Trawler Kits or Cutting files or Hulls or Complete boats. FROM PROFESSIONAL BUILDER: Hi Bruce, Just received the drawings ( for TY 620 ) and we are impressed by the amount of detail on these. We have made copies and have our guys studying them. We find these help the guys on the floor to understand the assembly process and things go much quicker. Looking forward to receiving the steel.....Brian FROM PROFESSIONAL BUILDER: Hi, By the way, the TY 620 - 62 foot trawler yacht of Bruce's design that we are currently building is coming along very well. The quality of the kit parts are the best we have ever seen, and as a result, we are saving time in the build. At present, we have 9 welders/fitters working on the boat in three teams. We have almost all of the plate hung in place and tacked up. We anticipate the seam welding will start within a few weeks as there are some details to attend to. But we must say again, that we are very happy with the quality of this TRAWLER kit. Hope to hear from you soon ....Brian PRINTED KIT STUDY PLANS: |

Here is what one Roberts TY40/42 owner had to say about his boat: I launched this boat in June of '97 at Michigan city, IN. Shakedown cruise got a perfect 10. I just completed a cruise to Florida via the Tenn-Tom to Tampa where I completed the interior. I returned via the Intercostal, East coast, Hudson, Erie Canal and the Great Lakes. This vessel performed beyond my wildest expectations. Fuel economy 10, handling 10, speed 9+ pitch stability 9+, roll stability 7 or 8. No ballast used. (Designers note: We recommend ballast in all our displacement trawlers). There is not bow spray rail pictured in the plan. This boat throws a lot of bow spray when it pitches into a heavy sea. Fun to watch but very cold on your face when you are on the bridge....Robert J. Wouda Could you please email me some information on the Bow Spray Chines, explained in a article sent to you by Robert J Wouda of America. I built a WR40/42 launched in April 1999, and since then have been overwelmed by the performance in all aspects, but do agree the vessel throws a lot of spray over the bow in short sharp chop. The vessel performs much better in a sea going situation with longer swells. Looking forward to a early reply in this matter...Yours faithfully, John McSwan. DESIGNERS NOTE: The above problem was easily solved...at Robert and now John's request we made a sketch of where to attach a spray rail to eliminate the above problem...we designed the WR40/42 in 1968 and have since recommended spray rails or chines in all our more recent designs. |
